Synthetic benchmarking of concentrated pyroclastic current models

چکیده
Validation and benchmarking of pyroclastic current (PC) models is required to evaluate their performance reliability for hazard assessment. Here, we present results a initiative built four commonly used assess concentrated PC hazard: SHALTOP, TITAN2D, VolcFlow, IMEX_SfloW2D. The benchmark focuses on the simulation channelized flows with similar source conditions over five different synthetic channel geometries: (1) flat incline plane, (2) sharp 45° bend, (3) straight break-in-slope, (4) an obstacle, (5) constriction. Several outputs from 60 simulations using three initial volume fluxes were investigated when simulating valley-confined kinematics, including overflows induced by topographic changes. Current Trends in Middleware Benchmarking
The paper provides a brief overview of the state of the art in middleware benchmarking. The overview is used to highlight some of the outstanding issues in the area, specifically the issues related to implementing, running and evaluating regression benchmarks. The issues are analysed in depth and the course of our work towards resolving them is presented.
متن کاملBenchmarking Decoupled Neural Interfaces with Synthetic Gradients
Artifical Neural Network are a particular class of learning system modeled after biological neural functions with an interesting penchant for Hebbian learning, that is "neurons that fire together, wire together". However, unlike their natural counterparts, artificial neural networks have a close and stringent coupling between the modules of neurons in the network. This coupling or locking impos...
متن کاملToxicity of Nanoparticles and an Overview of Current Experimental Models
Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing field having potential applications in many areas. Nanoparticles (NPs) have been studied for cell toxicity, immunotoxicity, and genotoxicity. Tetrazolium-based assays such as MTT, MTS, and WST-1 are used to determine cell viability. Cell inflammatory response induced by NPs is checked by measuring inflammatory biomarkers, such as IL-8, IL-6, and tumor necrosi...

متن کاملLimitations and Constraints of Eddy-Current Loss Models for IPM Motors with Fractional-Slot Concentrated Windings
This paper analyzes and compares models for predicting average magnet losses in interior permanent-magnet motors with fractional-slot concentrated windings due to harmonics in the armature reaction (assuming sinusoidal phase currents). Particularly, loss models adopting different formulations and solutions to the Helmholtz equation to solve for the eddy currents are compared to a simpler model ...
